The hearts of all of us in Vicarious Universe go out to the families of the victims of the Las Vegas terror attack. This attack was carried out in the late hours of October 1st and information about the victim and the lone gunman is still coming in.

Following any attack, natural disaster or other mass casualty event, people immediately wonder what they can do to help the victims and make things a bit better in the darkest hours of many peoples' lives. With a multitude of injuries, the most effective impact that can be made is by donating blood. If you do not live near Nevada but would still like to contribute in some way, visit or download the Red Cross Blood App to find a place near you where you can donate blood this week. The hospitals in Nevada will likely need to be re-stocked with all types of blood following treatment of the victims and the Red Cross will be able to transport the blood from where it is to where its needed most.

If you know anyone who is considering donating anything other than money or blood, please have them watch this video from CBS Sunday Morning. With all the recent natural disasters in Florida, Texas and Mexico on top of this recent act of terror, many people naturally feel compelled to give things to organizations and people who are in need. But many things that are donated are not as essential as the well-intended contributors may believe. There will be a time to give to those who have been impacted by this attack, but for now, we must focus on giving the gift of life so please support the Red Cross as much as you are able.
